new line of research in biology together with physics, mathematics, chemistry, computer science or engineering to focus on problems at the frontier of the life sciences 

all members of a Young Investigators’ grant team must be within 5 years of obtaining an independent position (Assistant Professor, Lecturer, or  equivelent, no Post-Doc) but must have obtained their first PhD no longer than 10 years before the deadline
